They lived on a farm, which they owned free and clear of any mortgage. Willie worked as a farm laborer, and both he and Cora could read, write and speak English.5

Also living in the house was his wife Cora Briley (given age 50), his daughter(s) Lucille. They owned their farm, which Willie worked on his own account. They could all read, write and speak English.7
Census1940Willie Briley (given age 61) was enumerated on the 1940 census as the head of a household, living at Road 22 at St. Landry Parish, LA, with his wife, Cora Briley (given age 60). Their home, which was on a farm, was valued at $500. Willie and Cora each had a fourth grade education. During the week before the census was taken, Willie worked 72 hours as a salesman for his own retail store. He had two hired hands living with him; one worked as a salesman in the store, while the other was a farm laborer.8
