AcadianTran*5 Jan 1769 Etienne Rivet (3rd) was transported on 5 Jan 1769 from Maryland to LA, with children Etienne, Francois, Pierre and Theodore, on the schooner Britannia. It took them almost a year to complete the harrowing journey. On their way to Louisiana, they missed the mouth of the Mississippi River due to strong winds and fog, and eventually landed at the Espiritu Santo Bay area of Texas. There they endured mistreatment, pillaging and abandonment of their ship, and we can only imagine what other hardships. After many weeks, possibly months, they were allowed to begin a trek by land to Louisiana, taking a month and a half to finally arrive at Natchitoches on 24 Oct 1769.4,3
